Classics Conference

Good morning, Invaders!! This past weekend, your Classics Club co-hosted 461 students and teachers at Brock University with Elmwood School in Ottawa for the 50th anniversary of the Ontario Student Classics Conference. Despite crushing fatigue after long hours of organizing check-in packages, manufacturing centre-pieces and registering schools, combined with late night play practices and touch ups to our projects, Innisdale's team hosted the Lieutenant-Governor, Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell and the Consuls-General of Italy and Greece, presenting the most successful Conference in its history and they still managed to win a number of ribbons!!

Madelon Gillies and Isabella Moriarty both won 5th place for their maps. The archaeology team and the school display team won 4th places and our play received 4th place. Lilly Ruecker received a 3rd for her sculpture of Augustus as did Alysha Marshall for her headress of Cleopatra and Madelon Gillies received a 3rd place for her painting of the Primavera. In 2nd place was Lilly Ruecker for pottery, Ciara McDace for her model of Pompeii's arena, Lisa Vercoelen for her model of the Lighthouse of Alexandria and Caroline Galluggo for our chariot. And, Mary Van Amelsvoort received a first place for the statue of Athena Nike and  Madelon Gillies for pottery. And Sadie Nash and Zoe Rowntree created a fantastic  representation of Scylla for Classical Cosplay. The team received a 5th place in the Mary Wace Trophy for Creativity which was won by our co-host Elmwood, 3rd for overall points per capita creative and Madelon Gillies and Lilly Ruecker were recognized as Top Creative students!!
